Figuring this out as a freelancer was the key to unlocking real freedom for me. Sure, skilling up and deliver high-quality work is important — but that’s essentially the baseline. Clients expect that you’ll deliver good stuff. It’s the other “business-y” stuff (sales, client communication, delegation, team & project management, accounting, marketing and self-promotion, networking, etc.) that can mean the difference between scraping by and earning a living.
